What is DPF Removal in FILHEX?
DPF Removal (DPF off / DPF delete) is ECU recalibration so monitoring and regeneration match the hardware state. How workshops use it, and legal notes.

A diesel particulate filter (DPF) traps soot. The ECU actively manages that filter: soot models, differential pressure, exhaust temperature, regeneration (including post-injection strategies), and a stack of related diagnostic trouble codes.
When workshops search for DPF off, DPF delete, or DPF Removal, they usually mean aligning the ECU File with a vehicle where the filter strategy must no longer run as stock — typically after physical work on the filter, or when regenerations and faults have made the car unusable until the calibration matches reality.
In FILHEX the catalog name is DPF Removal. Synonyms belong in search language; the Solution Job UI uses the glossary name.
Hardware and software are a pair
Industry practice is clear: physical filter work and ECU recalibration belong together.
- Remove or gut the filter without updating the File, and the ECU still expects pressure, soot load, and regen behaviour. Result: persistent DTCs, unwanted regen attempts, limp mode.
- Change only the File while the filter is still fitted, and it keeps loading with soot without regenerating — back-pressure, overheating and new faults follow.
FILHEX delivers the processed File side of that job. Mechanical work, diagnostics before/after, and legality for road use remain the workshop’s responsibility.
What the File work typically changes
A competent DPF-oriented calibration does more than flip one switch. Depending on ECU family, processors commonly adjust:
- Regeneration request and post-injection heating strategies
- Soot / ash accumulation models
- Differential pressure and temperature monitoring behaviour
- Related DTC masks so the dashboard and limp logic stop fighting the new hardware state
Generic “one map fits all” dumps are a known failure mode. Applicability for your dump is confirmed by File scan on your dump — then you select DPF Removal alone or with other Solutions on the same Solution Job.
FILHEX workflow
- Read the ECU; keep the original File.
- Upload to FILHEX; scan (no Credit spent).
- Select DPF Removal when listed (optionally with EGR Removal, Stage Solutions, etc.).
- Process — 1 Credit when the Solution Job completes.
- Download the result File; write it back with your tools; verify faults and drivability.
Legal and use context
Disabling emissions controls on vehicles used on public roads is restricted or illegal in many jurisdictions (for example Clean Air Act-style rules in North America, and strict MOT / emissions regimes in Europe). Workshops should treat DPF Removal as a professional Solution for contexts where law and customer use allow it — not as a casual road-legal “upgrade”.
