About DPF Removal
DPF Removal (also searched as DPF off, DPF delete or FAP off) is the File side of taking a diesel particulate filter out of the ECU's management. The filter itself is a honeycomb that traps soot and burns it off in regenerations the ECU schedules from a soot model and a differential-pressure sensor. When that filter is ash-full, cracked, melted or simply gone, the ECU keeps requesting regenerations, keeps measuring a pressure that no longer makes sense, and ends in limp mode. Workshops ask for DPF Removal when a replacement filter costs more than the vehicle is worth, when a car is stuck in a regeneration loop, or when the customer uses the vehicle where emissions rules allow it.
What changes in the File
A proper DPF-oriented calibration does more than switch one bit. It retires the soot and ash accumulation models, stops regeneration requests and the post-injection heating strategy that goes with them, disables differential-pressure and exhaust-temperature plausibility monitoring, and turns off the fault codes that would otherwise return — typically the P2002, P2452/P2453, P2463 and P242F families. Everything else in the File stays as it was.
Hardware and software are a pair
The File must match the car. Gut or remove the filter without the File and the ECU raises codes, tries to regenerate and drops into limp mode. Write the File while the filter is still fitted and it loads with soot, never regenerates, and causes back-pressure and heat damage. Most workshops pair DPF Removal with EGR Removal on the same job: without recirculated exhaust the engine runs cleaner and the two systems' fault logic is retired together. Expect lower exhaust temperatures and visible soot under load afterwards; a small economy gain is common, a power gain is not the point.

Using such a vehicle on public roads is an offence or an inspection failure in most European countries — the UK (MOT), Germany (Betriebserlaubnis) and the Netherlands (APK particle test) among them — and an "off-road use only" note does not protect the workshop. FAQ
Do I have to remove the filter physically, or is the File enough?
Both are needed. The File retires the ECU's filter management; the filter itself must be removed or gutted. A File on a car with the filter still fitted leaves a filter that loads with soot and never regenerates.
Will DPF Removal throw fault codes or limp mode?
Not when the File matches the software version and the hardware state. The calibration retires the pressure and temperature monitoring and the related codes. Codes such as P2002 or P2463 after the job usually mean a hardware-only delete, a partial File, or a sensor left unplugged — DTC clear on the result File is free for the last case.
Do I need EGR Removal with DPF Removal?
Most workshops pair them on the same job: without recirculated exhaust the engine runs cleaner, and both systems' fault logic is retired together. On FILHEX both Solutions on one File still cost 1 Credit.
Is DPF Removal legal?
